The SMARTDRUG™ encapsulation processes has proven success with a variety of pharmaceutical compounds, such as antibiotic drugs, small molecules, hormones, proteins and peptides. The technology based on natural a natural starch matrix forms a biodegradable microsphere matrix in which APIs can be entrapped. When brought in an aqueous environment, the microspheres swell and gradually release the APIs by diffusion.

These include: powder formulations suitable for inhalation and nasal delivery, gels for surgical and topical use, dissolvable films for buccal delivery. SMARTDRUG™ is also suitable for lyophilization, saline solutions and solid forms.
